The 6˝ hour Babysitter’s Training course gives 11 to 15 year olds the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Through hands-on activities, interactive video and lively discussions, the course teaches young people how to–

  • Care for children and infants.

  • Be good leaders and role models.

  • Make good decisions and solve problems.

  • Keep the children they babysit and themselves safe.

  • Handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents.

  • Write resumes and interview for jobs.

Students receive materials that are useful both during the course and on the job, including a handbook packed with information and full-color skill sheets; a compact emergency reference guide; and an interactive CD-ROM featuring an activity booklet with games songs, recipes and other activities, an electronic babysitting client organizer and much more.

The Babysitter’s Training program provides a number of ways to customize the training to meet customer needs. Thirteen additional activities are available to supplement the core course, including–

  • Icebreakers.

  • Basic Babysitting Business Plan.

  • Play Predicaments.

  • Child-Care Challenges.

  • How to Create a Babysitter’s Kit.

Ten additional lessons provide students with more in-depth coverage of core content, as well as additional content, including–

  • General Preparedness.

  • How to Play with Children.

  • Internet Savvy.

  • Managing Your Money.

Students can also receive CPR—Child and Infant and/or First Aid through the Babysitter’s Training program by completing the optional CPR—Child and Infant and First Aid lessons. Having the training built right into the program allows students to complete their certification in less time than adding on a separate CPR and/or First Aid course.
